Back in 2009, I put a post on my old LiveJournal blog. It was titled "Why I Read." This is an updated version of that post...
I am currently reading Alain de Botton's excellent How Proust Can Change Your Life. It seems to be a wonderful primer on how to glean wisdom from reading literature. I am reminded while I make my way through it about why I read and what I have gotten out of my adventures with books up to this point in my life.
When I was very young in the world, I read for pleasure. I was that set-apart sort who snuck books into class and scoured over them instead of paying attention to the teachers’ instructions. At lunch I could often be found in the school library reading something or another.

In this episode of Histrionic Kablooie, I talk about the ephemeral and exclusive nature of live performance. I get to touch on Steven martin, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Paul Baker and Peter Brook. And there's a picture of me with a koala.

I published another one of my plays on Amazon Kindle. DINOSAUR AND ROBOT STOP A TRAIN is an absurdist one-act play I wrote back in 2013. It is about a dinosaur from the past and a robot from the future who discuss with the gathered audience their involvement with a certain incident. They were sucked through time and space just in time to, supposedly, save a rather stupid little girl from a speeding train.
I am hoping to get a few more of my works out into the world (they don't do me any good sitting in a drawer in my office). Expect one more of my one-acts in the coming months.
If you know a theatre company looking for exciting new work, direct them towards my play. And grab a copy of DINOSAUR AND ROBOT STOP A TRAIN for yourself... HERE.

Group of scrappy emerging theatre artists here in Dallas who call themselves The Tribe invited me to be part of their first ever Solo Salon. Super happy someone else in the DFW area is taking up the cause. I'll be performing an excerpt of my solo show CYRANO A-GO-GO. Excited to visit the soon-to-be-opened Deep Vellum Bookstore, too.
